"Natto"-fermented soybeans

"Natto" is a traditional Japanese healthy food made from soybeans fermented with Bacillus subtilis var. natto. "Natto" may be a strange taste for foreigner because of its strong smells and texture but it is acquired taste. Its physical texture is sticky and is a natural result of the fermentation process. It has highly nutritious and rich in protein. "Natto" is more popular in some area in Japan more than in others. It is known to be popular in the Kanto region, but less popular in Kansai. Typically "Natto" is eaten on rice. This way of eating "Natto" is quite traditional and often eaten for breakfast. However currently, we have quite many ways to eat "Natto". Put on curry, noodle, Toast and so on. In Japan, "Natto" is sold pre-packaged into small 40 or 50 gram packets, and sold in packs of three to five packets.(80cent~120USD) When you visit Japan, it is worth to try.
