The Fukui Dinosaur Museum is the largest dinosaur museum in Japan and recognized as one of the top three in the world. The museum is located in Katsuyama City, Fukui, which is also where Japan's largest and most prolific excavation site is located. The Fukui Dinosaur Museum has four floors, full of information and extravagant displays. Dinosaur World, located in the main floor, is an exhibition with over 40 dinosaur skeletons including the local Fukui-raptor and Fukui-saurus. What will probably catch your eyes first upon entering will be the life-like Tyrannosaurus Rex display. Other than the enormous displays, the museum also features hands on exhibits and videos that teach visitors about the history of dinosaurs. The History of Life corner explains and illustrates the evolution and emergence of dinosaurs. The hands on exhibits include various kinds of real fossils that visitors can touch. Visitors can even watch as scientists and technicians clean fossils and conduct research.
