Kyoto Togestukyo Bridge | The Moon Crossing the Night Sky

The Chinese characters with the name of this Togetsukyo bridge is written, are broken down into two characters. "To" means crossing and "getsu" means moon. The name is a poetic allusion to the moon crossing the night sky. The present bridge was rebuilt in 1934 using steel but faithfully copying the structure of the original bridge in kyoto.
