Comiket - Tokyo Doujinshi Fair

Comic Market, known as Comiket, is a doujinshi fair held in Tokyo that attracts over 500,00 visitors during the Winter & Summer. It is a volunteer-run event administered by the Comic Market Preparatory Committee that lasts for three days. Many fans of doujinshi come across Japan to enjoy this spectacular event celebrating the works of up-and-coming, independent Manga artists.

In this fair there are two places to enjoy the works of doujinshi from various Japanese artists. The first one is The Circle Area. The Circle is a group who sells or release doujinshi and goods. Last year there was over 35,000 circles, with some Circle’s selling over thousands of doujinshi books at the last Comiket. Among them, some artists include: Shiratamako, Pannomimi, KAROMIX, Kinokonoumi, and Watakubi. Once you enter, you will see long tables with doujinshi and goods filled with people buying and sharing them. There are thousands of people gathered to share and buy their favorite doujinshi with other fans. Not only is the temperature hot, but the fans are very passionate and fired up over the unique stories. You’ll find hundreds of other fans who share your passion for doujinshi at Comiket.

While at Comiket, it isn't uncommon to see people cosplaying as their favorite anime and manga characters. Comiket attracts some of the top cosplayers around the world, with many fans coming just to see their favorite characters brought to life. Some of Japan's top cosplayers. Not only is it fun to find interesting doujinshi and exclusive products, it’s fun to meet and interact with fellow fans. Last year’s Comiket attracted around 20,000 cosplayers, including some of Japan’s top cosplayers like Lenfried, Otoginekommu, Enako, Usisijimaiinikusan, and Vanessa. There are also plenty of regular fans you can share your passion with at Comiket. Exchange doujinshi, goods, and talk for hours about your favorite anime and manga moments.

The second place to enjoy doujinshis at The Company Booth. This is where companies have pop-ups selling their latest goods and merchandise. Not only are there publishing companies, but there are also anime and IT companies that participate in the festival. There are over 120 companies that participate at Comiket. For example, Shougakukan famous of BLACK LAGOON, Akitashoten famous of Yowamushipedaru, Shounengahousha, Matutake, Bigsite, Honda are present. At the Company Booth area, you can get many limited-edition goods and exclusive collaborations you wouldn’t find anywhere else. There are also complimentary, high-quality goods handed out at the festival. There are many who line up the night before to get these free handout goods.
There are a lot of ways to enjoy Comiket. Come explore the various doujinshi at the Circle area, or shop for rare goods you can’t find in Akihabara. There are only two chances a year to enjoy this festival dedicated to doujinshi, so don’t let your chance slip.
