Crepe

Crepes are very popular snacks in Japan, especially among younger teens in Harajuku. On one major, crowded fashion street in Harajuku called Takeshita Street or "Takeshita Dori", several competing crepe stands sell various kinds of hand held crepes. They offer both sweet and savory crepes. The sweet choices include common options like strawberries and bananas with chocolate syrup. In Japan, they take it up a notch and even include ice cream and cheesecakes into the crepes. The savory options might seem strange to some people but popular options include tuna with mayonnaise and curry powder or ham and lettuce with sliced boiled egg. Although different from the crepes most of us are used to, these savory options are quite popular among the Japanese, often eaten as a light snack. Walking down Takeshita Dori, one will see many youngsters holding light pink cone shaped paper eating crepes as they make their way down the fashion street.
