Harajuku Crepes
Crepes are very popular snacks in Japan, especially among younger teens in Harajuku. On one major, crowded fashion street in Harajuku called Takeshita Street orTakeshita Dori, several competing crepe stands sell various kinds of sweet or savory crepes to enjoy. The sweet choices include common options like strawberries and bananas with chocolate syrup. In Japan, they take it up a notch and add other toppings like ice cream or cheesecakes into the crepes. The savory options might seem strange to some, but popular options include tuna with mayonnaise, crepes with curry powder seasoning, or ham and lettuce with a sliced boiled egg. Although different from the crepes most of us are used to, these savory options are quite popular among Japanese, often enjoyed as a light snack. Walking down Takeshita Dori, one will see many youngsters holding light pink cone shaped paper eating crepes as they make their way down the fashion street. While there are many notable crepes to try, each vendor at
Takeshita Doripushes the boundaries to make crepes stand out. During our Japan tours through Harajuku, our tour guides often recommend trying the Crème Brûlée Crepes or Ice-Cream Crepes during the hotter summer months. Find your favorite flavor during any of our Highlights Japan Tour Packages or Anime Tours through Harajuku and the rest of Tokyo!
