Ghibli moves in a sustainable way when opening the park, transforming the inner grounds of Expo 2005 Aichi Commemorative Park into a relaxing and inviting forest garden. This much awaited opening welcomes visitors to take a stroll, surrounded by greenery, and peer into the mystical and whimsical world of Ghibli.
Ghibli Park has three main areas for visitors to explore, Hill of Youth, The Ghibli Warehouse, and Dondoko Forest.
Visitors will enter the park, as the elevator tower from Castle in the Sky (1986) beckons you, and pass through the Hill of Youth, which acts as a gateway to the world of Ghibli.
Nearby you can see the antique shop from Whisper of the Heart (1995).
What used to be a public swimming pool has now transformed into the Ghibli Warehouse. In this large exhibition area, you can drop by Cinema Orion and enjoy original short films that are aired exclusively at Ghibli Museum Mitaka and Ghibli Park Nagoya.
Dondoko Forest features Satsuki and Mei’s house from My Neighbor Totoro (1988). This area is a Totoro-themed playground perfectly designed for kids who want to live out their imagination just like the kids in the classic film.
Within the park there are numerous photo spots from popular scenes in Ghibli movies such as the scene where Chihiro and No Face sit in the train together.
Take photos and feel as if you're part of the Ghibli set surrounded by dishes that are sure to make your stomach growl.
If you take a stroll through the shopping street, you’ll see that Minami-machi replicates the clutter of colorful shops to immerse you in the world of Ghibli.
In the warehouse shop, visitors can try food places like Cafe Transcontinental Flight, which has a vast line-up of one-hand consumables such as sandwiches and pizzas. It’s sure to make you feel like a member of Ghibli's iconic pilots.
Milk Stand Siberian is another cute little store that sells local milk in a glass bottle with Ghibli designs. You can enjoy the red bean cake from The Wind Rises (2013).
This park is still in the making and there are two more areas that are yet to come; Mononoke Village and Valley of the Witches, themed after Kiki’s Delivery Service (1989) and Howl’s Moving Castle (2004).
Stick with us and let us take you on a memorable Ghibli experience in Nagoya at the newly opened Ghibli Park.
