Hakone | First Open-Air Museum
Set in the stunning landscape of Hakone, the Hakone Open-Air Museum opened in 1969 as the first open-air art museum in Japan. Constantly changing with the seasons, its spectacular grounds are the permanent home for approximately 120 works by well-known modern and contemporary sculptors. One of the best times to visit the museum is during the Spring sakura season, when all of Japan's best cities are blessed with brilliant bright pink and white cherry blossom petals. The museum is split into five indoor exhibition halls, including a hall dedicated to the works of Picasso. At the Picasso Pavilion, patrons can enjoy from a collection of more than 300 of Picasso's works of arts. There are also pieces where children can play, a foot-bath fed by natural hot-springs, and a variety of other facilities where our visitors can relax and enjoy the splendor of art in nature.
Come see the majestic works of art in Hakone during a fully-guided Spring Japan Tour or Golden Route vacation package to enjoy this wonderful museum in the scenic Hakone landscape.
