Beautiful Villa of Gardens, Lakes, and Traditional Imperial Style Buildings
Shugakuin Imperial Villa in Kyoto, Japan is a beautiful three part villa featuring gardens, lakes, and traditional imperial style buildings. It was constructed by Emperor Gomizuno during the 17th century and is now managed by the Imperial Household Agency.
Visitors wishing to walk around Shugakuin Imperial Villa must do so through guided tours that last about an hour and twenty minutes. The tour is offered only in English but an English audio guide is available upon request. The guided tours point out the significant features of the villa and takes visitors to all three parts of the villa: upper, middle, and lower villas. The guided tours must be booked in advance.
