Sword Dancing Show
Samurai Kembu is the traditional performance art using a Katana (Japanese Swords) and Sensu (Japanese Fan). Kembu means Sword Dance
and has been around since the feudal days of Japan and the Samurai. The dancing was believed to sharpen the mind and achieve a state of heightened concentration. The dancing also served as a means for samurai to perfect their motion and techniques.
At the Samurai Kembu Theater in Kyoto, dancers perform the traditional Samurai art for audiences. The theater's mission is to inform people from around the world about the Samurai spirit and aesthetic sense through the traditional performing art of Kembu.
This includes mesmerizing shows with katana and sensu to tell stories of traditional Japan. This samurai art is a way to keep the samurai spirit alive in Kyoto.
Watch the entrancing dances with swords and fans with a pre or post stay during our Cherry Blossom Japan Tours or Anime Japan Vacations available Spring or Year-round. You can also create a custom Kyoto tour to visit the Samurai Kembu Theater and the rest of Kyoto's can't miss tourist attractions!
