Capsule hotels have become popular lodging options for many Japanese tourists. The small rooms mimic the shape and small size of capsules, measuring at about 1.2 meters wide, 2 meters long, and 1 meter high. It provides guests with a very affordable, low budget place to stay, starting from around 2000 yen.
The small room includes an individual bed and basic amenities for its guests. Located often around major train stations, it was a popular lodging option for business men who may have missed the last train from work but has recently become more common among women as well.
Though your room only consists of a bed and TV, the hotel also has common restrooms and showers that are shared among the guests. Some capsule hotels may even have lounges for its guests as well. The hotels also usually provide toiletries and sometimes even a yukata, a robe, for use.
