AnimeJapan | Highlights of Japan (TYO) 9 DaysOne of the best experiences was at the Robot Restaurant
Real stories from travelers who experienced Japan with us. Premium guided tours since 1983. Showing 401–450 of 1865.
One of the best experiences was at the Robot Restaurant
The meals were flavorful and very good
Oveall very good experience! My only suggestions would be for the tour guide to slow down so we can enjoy more fully. Also, having the bus for the entire trip would have been better than using the rail pass. Thank you!5
I was on a tour for the first time in Japan and I really liked the whole experience. Our bus driver Sato was simply excellent! Always on time, providing us smooth, safe, and comfortable rides. He is very coursefull and causious driver. Thank him very much! I liked such experiences like tea ceremony, rickshaw ride, and lunch with Maiko because they were very personal and touched us deeply!
Thank you for the experience, the tour made my first time in Japan. Very enjoyable!
I really enjoyed this tour overall as a "highlights" view of Japan. It would have been nice to spend more time in certain areas, but considering how much we were able to see, I can understand the timimng on certain days or area. If'd also have been neat if provided on how to get around dining our free time (ie. buying a train ticket, suggestions of restaurants, etc.). I'd recommend this japan tour to a friend.
Great food. Hiro was excellent, knowledgable and very helpful
We loved every day of our tour! Hiro was professional, knowledgeable, warm and friendly. The Grand Nikko hotel was excellent in every way. The other accommodations were okay, but not as comfortable. All the activities were well chosen. We especially enjoyed the teppanyaki lunch, the cliff side setting, the rikshaw through the bamboo forest and deer park. All the activities were very interesting and family friendly, which we appreciated. I know that food is an important part of the cultural experience but we did not enjoy some of the traditional Japanese meals. Perhaps at these meals it would be possible to include options that were friendlier to a Western palate. My kids walked away pretty hungry a couple days and that’s hard with an active schedule. Overall, this tour was a fantastic way to experience Japan!
It was our first time to visit Japan. We were happy about the places that we were able to visit in four short days. The first and last day were just arrival and departure days. It was great to be able to experience the culture firsthand. Overall it was a good and satisfying trip.
Generally the tour was good, Cherry Blossom on second half was perfect. One comment, lunch is too near breakfast & should be replaced by evening dinner. Some days were with Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner, too much time eating, lunch could be eliminated.
All the locations were fantastic, Our guide went above and beyond to accommodate my soybean, avocado allergies, was extremely knowledgeable and was so attentive to details, very respectful Hideki San!. Everything was great except for the hotel dormy inn which deserves 1 star.
When I booked the tour I requested a 4 stars hotel, but expect for Tokyo and Hiroshima was 3 and even 1 star hotel ( Dormy Inn was definitely the worst: not clean, very old, very bad smell in the room and so poor breakfast) in Kurashiki I was very, very disappointed for that, i didn’t dare to take a shower for the condition of the bathroom.) The amount That we paid wasn’t for such a cheap accommodation.Regarding the tour I should advise to skip the Edo Museum, there isn’t to much to see over there. While more time should be given to other more Interesting places in Tokyo and some Placeces in Hakone. Mr Hideki, our guide, was excellent and only because he was able to smooth all the tour was done in professional way. Also the driver, Mr Ito, was always ready to facilitate any need of all of us.
Best place visited in this tour: This is very hard to decide-Amuse Museum, Sashiko Museum, Kubota Art Museum, Indiago Dye at Aizenkobo. Best experience had in Japan: I love the hands on workshops, paper making, shiibori, stenciling, a sashiko experience would also be fun. And I loved every time and place we got to see how things are made. Any place went to visit next time: It was an excellent trip and I loved every minute of it. My only criticism is I think the group was slightly too large.
Best place visited in this tour: We loved the Illumination, Asakusa, Hoto - I can’t pick one. Best experience had in Japan: Dying the scarves in the Shidori work shop, Kimono fashion show and shopping the streets with local vendors and flavors. Any place went to visit next time: The Imperial Palace, the Thousand Gates in Kyoto. We were initially disappointed after a long and frustrating trip to travel to Japan that we were on our own to find our way to the hotel. Hiroko was waiting to welcome us at the hotel with a word of welcome and a snack, so that eased some frustration. Having more information prior to coming regarding Luggage allowances and transfer would relive a lot of anxiety when changing to another.
Best place visited in this tour: The Quilt show, The Sashiko Museum Best experience had in Japan: Hiroko & Shun provided entertainment, safety and generosity with time and gifts Any place went to visit next time: As overall tour of Japan I had a ball this group was perfect, helpful and friendly. I’m 78 years old and had a bit of problem with stairs but I received help & encouragement from every body they made my trip traveling alone wonderful.
Best place visited in this tour: Quilt Show, Ichiku Kubota, Amuse Museum Best experience had in Japan: Final dinner, workshop, bus talk & Hiroko Any place went to visit next time: Didn’t have time to go to fish market in Tokyo . Would liked more time at Noritake, light show and would be interested in the extended tour of Kawashima textile Museum. Thank you for the diary!
Best place visited in this tour: Shibori Museum, Amuse Museum, Kubota Art Museum & Aizen Kubo, Koito weaving – stage Curtains Best experience had in Japan: Watching people work, and learning about their trades. Any place went to visit next time: More sightseeing, historical sights not necessarily about textiles This was an excellent trip. I would be happy to talk to prospective clients about the trip. It would have been easier with a smaller group. It’s nice that there is an option to extend the trip. One day earlier in Tokyo. Took a fish market tour. Plan to go other sights in Kyoto.
Best place visited in this tour: Kyoto Shishu Restoration Studio – being able to observe close-up the works. Aizen kobo – the opportunity to meet Ken-ichi Utsuki & see his work. Best experience had in Japan: The farewell dinner with the maiko. The opportunity to find so many unique fabrics I wouldn’t be able to get at home. Any place went to visit next time: Almost everything we went on this tour – it was great! Although a few stops were limited in the amount of time allowed, I wouldn’t want to subtract anything from the tour, to accommodate more time somewhere else. Considering distances, traffic, etc. I think the itinerary we had was well thought out and provided a number of once-in-a-lifetime experience. Thank you, Hiroko! The farewell dinner with the maiko was wonderful, truly a unique experience. Thank you for arranging for us – and I can say I’ve played a drinking game with maiko! I’ll never forget that. Touring with quilters is fun!
Best place visited in this tour: Kubota Art Museum Best experience had in Japan: Shibori Workshop Any place went to visit next time: Ninenzaka + Temples
Best place visited in this tour: The quilt festival, amuse, Sashiko Museum, Kubota Museum, Textile Museum, Fish Market Best experience had in Japan: Quilt festival - So many! Any place went to visit next time: Japanese Garden Should have shipped everyone luggage to Kyoto even they have 2 pieces. Nowhere in materials did you say that only 1 bag would be covered. I would have liked a more formal intro to everyone in the group by name. I have a hard time talking to everyone & learning names. The welcome tea party was ok but I ended up sitting with people I knows & I have still never sat with some members at the group and I don’t know their name for sure.
Best place visited in this tour: Ichiku Kubota Museum Best experience had in Japan: Shibori Museum made our own shibori. Any place went to visit next time: Country side close to mount Fuji.

Best place visited in this tour: Quilt festival & Ichiku Kubota Museum. I enjoyed all of the places we visited. Kyoto Shishu Restoration Studio was a favorite Best experience had in Japan: Nabanano Sato illumination, making paper at Ozuwashi Any place went to visit next time: I appreciated having the video on Ichiku Kubota before we arrived at the museum. It would have been helpful to have some more background on some of the other places we visited and tips about what to look for. Some of the information we received from Japan Deluxe tours before the trip was very helpful. It would have been helpful to get information about what qualified for tax relates, need to have passport with for tax relate, etc
Best place visited in this tour: Such a great variety! Loved it all. Best experience had in Japan: The most fun was the scarf dying. Loved the small specially techniques we got to learn about. Best place visited in this tour: Amuse Museum & Sensoji Temple Best experience had in Japan: Illumination in Nabanano Sato Any place went to visit next time: Beautiful gardens Pre-stay in Tokyo – We went to imperial Garden, Tokyo sky-tree for shopping. We also took the train to Harajuku for people watching.
Best place visited in this tour: Quilt Show Best experience had in Japan: Silk scarf Any place went to visit next time: The large temple in Kyoto. The first day, I would have liked to start earlier at the Quilt Show rather than wait for the welcome tea. The earlier start I was able to get on Sunday was so much less crowded. Day2 afternoon on the subway was too much changing of subways. Perhaps a bus to the one stop we needed to get to? On bus to the location.
Best place visited in this tour: Quilt Festival Best experience had in Japan: Shibori, scarf was so fun Any place went to visit next time: Onsen More time in the Asakusa area. Having Sanshiro was a real plus. He was always helpful and cheerful. If more than one connection, maybe bus rather than subway train. Some people had a difficulty with stairs at the station. More time at the illumination
Best place visited in this tour: All the places. Loved the crafts Best experience had in Japan: Meeting the people. Any place went to visit next time: Not sure. This was my first tour! Loved it will do again. The final Dinner was so much fun!
Best place visited in this tour: Kubota Museum + Ozu Washi Best experience had in Japan: Shopping in TokyuHands + Buying special order name stamps. Any place went to visit next time: Kubota Museum, Nippori Fabric town, Asakusa, Ozuwashi Even better experience in Tokyo than last year. Loved the addition of Ozu Washi! Great to experience non-fabric related activity also. So sad to hear Amuse Museum is closing. It was a little gem. Thinking again to Hiroko for making my trip a special memory Quilt excursion. You are the best! Appreciate what you do and effort you made.

Best place visited in this tour: (I am not done with the tour yet, but so far it was the Deer Park) I am, very much looking forward to visiting Hiroshima! Best experience had in Japan: I was pretty excited about riding the bullet train! Any place went to visit next time: I would need to do some research Our bus driver Kenji was outstanding!! The bus was very comfortable, always clean, and kept cool in the heat. There were NOT enough "Wi-Fi Hotspots" on the bus to accommodate everyone. It's first-come, first-serve and no one gets off it! (This would be my only negative comment) I will highly recommend Japan Deluxe Tours as everything was so easy and seamless to do in planning this trip. Yoshihiro in the LA office was extremely helpful with the entire planning process, and the JDT website is terrific and user-friendly.
