Tochigi Nikko Irohazaka | Winding Roads

Irohazaka, a pair of winding roads, connects the lower and higher elevations of Nikko. "Iroha" refers to the first three of the 48 syllables of the old Japanese alphabet and "zaka" means slope. The winding roads were named after the Japanese alphabet because of its 48 turns. The view from along the road is amazing with two waterfalls in clear view. Irohazaka is especially beautiful during the autumn when the warm colors fill the mountain.
