Typically, the automatic teller machines (ATMs) in Japan do not accept any cards issued outside of Japan. While this is the case, there are also international ATMs which can be found at international airports, major department stores, post offices, 7-11 convenience stores, and in Shinsei Bank branches. Provided your credit or debit card can be used abroad (we advise you check with your card issuer before your Japan tour), the ATMs at these locations allow you to withdraw Yen while in Japan. These ATMs also have an English user interface to ensure smooth transactions while on vacation.
