Kimigayo National Anthem of Japan
Kimigayo is the National Anthem of Japan. The Lyrics are taken from Kokin Waka Shu poem written in the Heian period about the 8th century. The melody was chosen in 1880. Japan had no national anthem then Britain’s military bandmaster John William Fenton suggested make one for a modern new era after Edo Shogunate period ended. It is one of the shortest national anthems in the world.
