Celebrate Children's Growth

“Shichi-Go-San” is a traditional Japanese event to celebrate children’s growth. It means seven, five and three in Japanese. This is a festival for three and five year-old boys and three and seven year-old girls. On that day, children beautifully dress up in kimono and they go to a shrine with their parents. At the shrine, they have a ritual and they are given “Chitoseame”. This is a long, thin, red and white candy in a bag decorated with turtles and cranes which means a long life and happy occasion. This event held on November 15th, so if you go to the shrine you can see it!
