Galaxy & Shooting Star Waterfalls
The Ryusei and Ginga Waterfalls are located alongside each other in the Daisetsuzan National Park. Surrounded by cliffs stretching for 25 kilometers (15.5 miles) along the Ishigari River, the national park is filled with breathtaking waterfalls guests can enjoy from the base of the mountain. Both waterfalls get their names from the way the water looks as it falls. Ryusei meansmeteorbecause the falls are reminiscent to a meteor shower in the sky, while Ginga means
Milky Waybecause of the white thread-like appearance of the falls. Together, the waterfalls are refereed to as
Husband & Wifeby the locals (Ginga is the Wife, Ryusei is the Husband) and are both part of Japan's
top 100 waterfalls.Enjoy these magnificent falls during a Japan tour through the mountains of Hokkaido, or during a hike on your next vacation in Japan!
