The Tour of Hell along the Kannawa area is one of the most popular attractions for sightseeing in the Beppu Spa. While Beppu is typically appreciated for their hot-springs waters and sand bathing along the scenic beach shores, the hot-spring town also draws numerous travelers to see the famous Hell Ponds. While the water in Beppu is normally appreciated for it's relaxing qualities, the water at the various "Hell's" (地獄, jigoku) are intended for sightseeing thanks to the unique properties not found at other resorts. Each pond has various properties making them worth exploring after a day of soaking in the waters of the hot-springs town.
Famous for eight spots, Japan Deluxe Tours will explore three of Beppu's Hell's while traveling through Kyushu.
Our Southern Japan Tours and Grand Tour Packages include time exploring the Sea Hell made up of bright cobalt blue hot water, the Blood Pond Hell where hot water containing red melted clay gushes out, and the Tornado Hell to see the fiery geyser erupts. The Tour of Hell also sells onsen eggs (eggs boiled in the hot springs) similar to the Black Eggs of Owakudani and their famous Hell Steamed Pudding, both popular among visitors.
