Hakone | Taste the Sulfurous Black Egg

Owakudani is a famous crater in Hakone and much of the area is an active volcanic zone filled with sulfurous fumes and hot springs. There is a cable car swinging high above a spectacular volcanic landscape. Moreover, Owakudani has glorious views of Mount Fuji on sunny days. Kuro-tamago or black eggs are a part of the popular Owakudani experience. Eggs that are hard boiled in hot springs which turn black from the sulfur are sold and very popular souvenirs. Eating an egg is said to add seven years to your life.

You can add seven years to your life and eat the famous kuro-tamago by joining one of our Japan tours.
