The historic town of Yanai in Yamaguchi Prefecture

Yanai city is located in the eastern part of Yamaguchi. Yanai city preserves traditional style merchant houses with white walls, lattice windows and tile roofs from the Edo Period. It is a small, unassuming place, but it is a charming and historical town. The town is famous for its production of goldfish lanterns since it used to be a fishing village. Less fishing takes place in the town but it has its own festival called the Yanai Goldfish Lantern Festival which held every August. Enjoy the charming Yanai city during our Nikkei Tour.
