Kasama Azalea Festival is an azalea viewing event held at Kasama Tsutsuji Park in Ibaraki. Held from April 14th, many people gather every year to view the 8,500 red, pink, white, and purple azalea flowers bloom beautifully in front of their eyes. The prime blooming time is typically between late April until early May.
There's a lot to do during the festival, including open-air tea ceremonies, folk song entertainment, and performances by traditional Japanese groups. Admission only costs 500 yen for adults (exception for handicapped individuals) and is free for children. Given how popular the azalea are, it isn't a surprise to see families and friends gather to the Kasama Azalea Festival to get a glimpse of the beautiful Japanese flower and for a scenic picnic under the trees.
