Tea leaf picking season is typically held between late April to late June, and once again in mid-September to late October. At Kuraya Narusawa in Shizuoka, try your hand at the traditional methods of picking tea in this immersive, tea picking experience. Kuraya Narusawa offers guests traditional tea-picking outfits (Kasuri no Kimono) for guests to wear while out in the field. These outfits consist of a cotton hair wrap, blue and white kimono, a red apron, and a basket to carry tea leaves on your back. After you fill your basket, the kind staff takes you on a tea manufacturing tour before you try the fresh tea you picked yourself. You can even take some of the leaves home with you as a souvenir so you can sip on your tea even after your tour ends. If you love green tea, why not experience fresh tea from the source? You can add green tea leaf picking at Kuraya Narusawa to your free day in Tokyo on our line of Spring Cherry Blossom Japan Tours, or visit in the Autumn with our private Japan tour options.
