Sandanbashi is a series of arch bridges that span the width of the Takachiho Gorge. There are three bridges that make up Sandanbashi: Shinbashi (stone), Ohashi (steel), and Shinto Takachiho Ohashi (concrete). Shinbashi and Ohashi were built during the Showa era while the Shinto Takachiho Ohashi was built during the Heisei era. Tourists can walk along the bridges to get to and from either side of the gorge. The bridge provides a spectacular view and is perfect for taking photographs of Takachiho Gorge. Tourists can walk down to the gorge itself for a unique experience, and take pictures of the 3 "stacking" bridges from below.
