Maid Cafe | Unique Cafe Experience

Maid cafes have become increasingly popular these few years with the rise of anime. At maid cafes, waitresses are dressed up as maids and treat the customers as they are their masters. While the selection at a Maid Cafe may not be as extensive as a trendy cafe in Shibuya or Roppongi Hills, the main attraction is being treated as a wealthy elite looking to unwind after a long day. Upon entering, the maid waitresses will often greet you saying "Welcome home, master" and converse with you as they take your order. Maid Cafes provide an escape from reality for guests to enjoy life like some of their favorite anime characters. The growing popularity of maid cafes in Japan have lead to the creation of similar themed-cafes, such as hedgehog cafes, dog cafes, owl cafes, and cat cafes where guests can interact with the mentioned animals. It isn't uncommon for a person on our Anime Japan Tour packages to request adding time at a Maid Cafe or cat cafe during their free day in Tokyo.

Maid cafes initially attracted anime and otaku fans, particularly males, but have increasingly started attracting Japanese females and tourists as well. With more popularity, it isn't a surprise to find girls dressed as maids in Akihabara trying to recruit people to visit their cafes. While friendly, be sure to ask if you can take a photo, due to rules associated with the cafes. These maid cafes are sure to provide a much different experience than your usual cafe.

If you've ever seen an anime featuring a maid cafe, or you've just always wanted to try out this unique experience, Japan Deluxe Tours is happy to help you find a cafe in Tokyo or Akihabara during your free day on any of our Cherry Blossom Japan Tours or Anime Japan Tour packages!
