Nobel Laureate Yasunari Kawabata's Favorite Wine
Founded in 1937, Katsunuma Jozo Winery is an impressively large vineyard that has produced wine for the last three generations. The winery offers tours of the vineyards, cellars, and wine production for guests to see the various steps involved when producing high quality wine. Also known as Aruga Branca, this winery uses the popularKoshu Grapes. These grapes are famous for Japanese wine, and produce a flavor that can't be matched. Guests can enjoy a sample of the wines in the tasting rooms, or at there onsite restaurant: Le Vent. Those who stop for a meal in Le Vent can expect delicious pairings of wine and local food. If that isn't enough to convince you, Japanese writer and winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1968 Yasunari Kawabata is known to love the wine from Katsunuma Winery.
